sunlight.

there's something about mornings that give me a very secure sense of comfort. to be honest, i never really experienced this before. when i was younger, i had a shade that kept my room pitch dark even at 11am. my mom would wake me up (as opposed to an alarm clock) with songs that DE-CLAAARED it was morning. she was "risin'" and "shinin'" until i practically suffocated myself with a pillow. i loved her for it. it's basically her legacy.

anyways, there is something NOW about mornings that i'm desperately in love with. not the getting out of bed thing. there's something much more warm. and calming. and laaaazy. at 7:30am, sunrise rays peeks through my blinds and allow light to seep into my quiet room. these lines of warm sunlight gently rouse my tired eyes to open and see the glow that inhabits my space for a special two hours. and i can roll to one side and back over to the other and enjoy the feeling of a new day...a warm start to my few beginning hours.

and i love it. i look forward to it every morning. i've never been much of an early riser. but now, i set my alarm extra early so i don't miss this. this dawn of a new day.

"I dove head first into my business when I realized fear shouldn't dictate how I live my life...because the life I wanted to live was trapped in a Canon camera, a unknown blog, and 250 black business cards. That's all I had, but fear couldn't rob me of following my dreams. It shouldn't rob anyone of them." - J*

september.

last night, adam & i celebrated his birthday. i like celebrating his birthday for a few reasons. the first, obviously, is because i love him. but second, his birthday ushers in sweatshirt weather. and not just sweatshirt weather...but wearing jeans, planting mums, sipping apple cider, and baking pies & cinnamon strudel. after a completely lazy day on the couch (that shamelessly involved eating half of the cake above), we took our blanket, books, and sweatshirts to the yard and soaked up the warm sunlight and the cool air swept over us. and third, once september begins, we can begin the countdown to covered bridge. 4 weeks until my favorite time of the year.

in other news, i got a job. then i quit said job. and i started my own business. and am still looking for an additive income. check out the site here: http://bg--photography.blogspot.com/

aaaand, i'm having a tea party. for my grandma. with three courses, party favors, and lots of good conversation. i had better get back to the planning!

i know that my circumstances in this season doesn't change that God is still God. and He's still on the throne in Heaven, and He still rules. and He's still bigger than everything that i'm facing.
